Crafted, a poem by Sahra Yousuf

Reading another poem about the letter of why my heart is heavy

Carrying it around outweighs my thoughts

While focusing on ways to water down these words

To be allowed to be considered human

Is to ask again

IGNORANCE seems to be easier to swallow

Can’t comprehend the fact that blood is still the same regardless of skin

But because of the layer of my skin debates need to be put in place to think again

I picture my people and I to be gold

Like        d i a m on d        sphere

Crafted with silk thread

Royalty in the veins of our blood

Seeps thru

To carry the wave

And restart a new generation where ignorance will be hard to consume
