Remember to maintain your peace and joy

Here are some things that I’ve had to wrestle with over the past few weeks:

The state will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy. Elected leaders will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy.

The police will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy. Your job will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy.

Your school will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy. Some of your loved ones will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy.

Some of your allies and organizational partners will try to steal and compromise your peace and joy.

There will always be external forces that will make demands upon you and your time, all of which will impact your ability to seek and maintain peace and joy in your life, especially in these troubling times.

But at all times, it’s upon you to protect and affirm what brings you peace and joy. If you don’t, you will fall prey to letting those external forces dictate if and how you experience peace and joy in your day to day existence.
